Two Eggs or a Slice of Pizza. Same Points

Two eggs or a slice of pizza. Same points. When the points become the goal, the goal got too small.

Last week I asked if you were a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. This week I want to ask a stranger question. Points, calories, carbs. What are we even counting?

First, let me say again what I said last week, because I mean it. Many of the women in our own community are on Weight Watchers right now, and I encourage them to stay with whatever program is getting them results. The meal plan is solid. The tracking builds real awareness. If it is working on your body, keep it.

But something happens quietly to almost every woman who counts, and I want to name it out loud.

The points become the goal.

You started because you wanted to be healthy. You wanted energy, freedom, a body that could serve God and the people you love. But somewhere around month three, the question changed. It stopped being am I getting healthier and became did I stay inside my points today.

And those are not the same question. Watch this. You can spend your points on a couple of eggs, or you can spend those same points on a slice of pizza. The app records both as a win. The app cannot tell the difference.

Your body can.

Because points measure a budget, not nourishment. One of those choices feeds your body. The other one just fits the math. And when the number is the goal, we will always find the version that fits the math and still gives us what we were craving. There is nothing wrong with you. It is our human nature to look for the loophole, to work the system instead of letting the system work us. Give any of us a scoring system and we will figure out how to beat it. We save up, we swap, we squeeze the thing we wanted in under the wire, and we are technically compliant.

Technically compliant. And still stuck. That is the trap to watch for. A counting system can quietly become permission to eat what you want, inside the number, without accountability and without any real change in your health. You can win the game every single week and never get well.

So here is my challenge for you this week, and it is one question. What is your motivation beyond the points? Scripture says, “whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). That is a goal no app can hold. It asks more of you than a number does, and it gives you more back.

A number can tell you what you ate. It cannot tell you why, and it cannot tell you what your body needed instead. Make the goal bigger than the points, because you were made for more than staying inside a number.

Making the goal bigger is exactly what we do at Weight Loss God’s Way. Count if counting helps you. But underneath the counting, we go after the reasons you reach for food in the first place, so the change actually holds. That deep work starts in the Breakthrough Method, our foundational course, where every Champion begins.

Next Wednesday I am asking a question that might mess with your grocery list a little. Are vegetables really free? See you then.

P.S. Still not a quit-Weight-Watchers campaign. Keep what works. Just make sure the points are serving your goal, and not quietly becoming it.
