Quick question, and be honest with me. Are you a lifetime member of Weight Watchers?
Almost every woman I talk to is. Or was. Or is technically still paying for it. And I’ll poke a little fun here, because a lot of us have been lifetime members of Weight Vultures for years now, circling the same ten pounds, renewing every January like clockwork.
Now, I am not about to tell you the answer is to quit and never look back. I believe in sticking with something. I believe in community. We have one right here, and I want you in it for the long haul. So this is not a cancel-everything post.
Here is the real question. It is not how long you stay. It is what you are staying for.
And before we go further, I want to say something tender, because so many of the women we serve carry this memory: they were taken to their first meeting by their mother. They were nine, or eleven, or thirteen, sitting on a folding chair, watching the number come up on a scale in a room full of grown women.
If that was you, hear me: you came by this honestly. You did not choose it. You learned it. You watched your mother count and weigh and restart, and you did what she did, because that is what daughters do. And her mother probably taught her the same thing.
I am not here to put our mothers on trial. They loved us. They were well intentioned, and they did the best they could with what they were handed. But they handed us the scale, not the healing, because nobody ever gave them the healing either.
That pattern can stop with you.
Let me be fair to Weight Watchers, because it gets real things right. The meal plan is good. The points, the tracking, the community of women who understand, those are genuine tools, and they work on the body. If that structure helps you, keep it. I mean that.
But here is what it was never built to do. It manages the weight. It does not heal what is under it. It can count what is on your plate, but it cannot touch the grief, the shame, or the fear that sent you to the plate in the first place. So a woman can track her food for twenty years and still be circling the same pounds, because the wound underneath was never named.
Keep the meal plan if it helps you. Just don’t mistake managing the weight for healing what is under it. One counts your food. The other heals the reason you reach for it.
That deep work is what we do at Weight Loss God’s Way. And yes, we have a community too, but ours is women healing and growing together, not white-knuckling the same restart every Monday.
Over the next few Wednesdays, I am going to show you how to take the good tools, from Weight Watchers or anywhere else, and add the one thing they are missing: God in the deep place, doing the healing no meeting ever reached.
This is the work the meetings never got to.
Come see how Weight Loss God’s Way works. Keep the tools that help you, and add the healing they were never built to reach.
More next Wednesday. We are just getting started.

P.S. This is not a quit-Weight-Watchers campaign. Keep what works. We are just going after the part it can’t reach.
