Go Deeper: Finding the Root of Your Weight Struggles
Have you ever wondered why you keep circling the same mountain with your weight? You start strong, then stop. You do well for a while, then slip back again. It’s not that you don’t know what to do—you’ve tried every diet, every plan, every promise. Yet somehow, the results never last.
That’s because your struggle isn’t really about food or exercise. It’s about what’s beneath them.
What’s Really Going On Beneath the Surface
For years, I thought I just needed more willpower. But what I actually needed was healing. God began to show me that my habits were rooted in something deeper—emotions I hadn’t dealt with. The nights I reached for food weren’t about hunger; they were about comfort, control, and anxiety.
Psalm 139:23–24 became my turning point:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
When I finally prayed that prayer and meant it, God began revealing what I was trying to stuff down instead of surrender. It wasn’t always easy to face, but it was freeing.
Go Deeper, Not Harder
If you’ve been frustrated, maybe it’s time to stop chasing the next fix and start asking deeper questions.
What are you trying to soothe?
What are you avoiding?
What is your heart really craving?
When you let God search your heart, He’ll show you the root—not to shame you, but to set you free. Because this journey isn’t about the perfect diet or workout plan. It’s about partnering with the One who knows you better than you know yourself.
So before you start over again, pause and pray:
“Lord, show me what’s at the root.”
That’s where real transformation begins.
