Faith Over Foodxiety in Weight Loss, God’s Way

Finding Freedom From “Foodxiety”

Have you ever felt anxious about what you’re eating? Counting every calorie, stressing over sugar, carbs, or preservatives? There’s even a new word for it—foodxiety.

Instead of food bringing nourishment and joy, it can quickly become a source of fear. Some women get so consumed with eating “perfectly” that they stop enjoying food altogether. Others avoid eating out of fear of making a mistake.

But food was never meant to cause anxiety. God designed it to fuel and strengthen us.

Use Common Sense, Not Fear

Deep down, we already know the basics:

  • A carrot will always be better for you than a bag of fries.

  • Fresh foods from the earth will always serve you better than something made in a factory.

One helpful question to ask:
👉 “Is this a plant…or was it made in a plant?”

That simple shift helps keep things clear without overcomplicating your choices.

Food Is Fuel, Not an Enemy

When you eat, pause and ask:

  • How close is this food to the way God created it?

  • Is it nourishing me, or is it overly processed?

You don’t need to be perfect. Striving for perfection only increases stress and takes the joy out of eating. Instead, choose the best you can—whole foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, healthy grains—and then release the rest.

Breathe, Pray, and Enjoy

Next time foodxiety starts to rise, pause and breathe. Thank God for your meal, ask Him to bless it to your body, and then eat with peace.

Food is not your enemy. It is a gift from God to fuel your body and give you strength for the journey.

Today’s Challenge

Before your next meal, ask yourself:
👉 “Am I eating in fear, or in faith?”

Choose to eat with gratitude, not anxiety. Nourish your body, enjoy your food, and let God’s peace guide your choices.
