I love kitchen gadgets! They make my time in the kitchen more interesting and creative. I’m always on the lookout for healthy ways to prepare food. Lastly, I love efficiency–after all, who wants to waste time in the kitchen.
Some of them have been a bit pricey, but I try not to put a price on my health. Plus, I think it’s cut down on our eating out.
So in this post, I’ve put together my top 5 super-efficient, healthy kitchen gadgets that help me manage my weight.
If you’re hungry, this might not be the best time to read this post–LOL! Here are some of my favourite dishes…
Kitchen Gadget #1 – Spiralizer
This kitchen gadget allows me to enjoy meals like pasta without all of the calories and unwanted carbohydrates. I use it to make sweet potato fries, pasta made from vegetables, cabbage for coleslaw, and a host of other healthy dishes.
This simple dish is spiralized zucchini with pesto sauce, chicken, and cherry tomatoes. It takes about 10 minutes to make from start to finish and is perfect if you want pasta but don’t want the calories and carbohydrates.

Kitchen Gadget #2 – Actifryer
This is probably my favourite gadget of all time. We use it a minimum of 2x per week and my family really enjoys how the food tastes.
The Actifryer can best be described as a deep fryer that uses hot air instead of oil. We use it to cook french fries (with no oil), fried shrimp, chicken wings, and stir-fry dishes. If you’ve ever tried to make sweet potato fries in the oven, you know they always come out soggy and limp, but the Actifryer always makes them crispy and delicious.
This is one of my favourite go-to dishes because my family loves it. I can enjoy deep fried wings without all the fat and calories. It takes about 15-20 minutes in the Actifryer and the broccoli took less than 10 minutes.

Kitchen Gadget #3 – Magic Bullet
This kitchen gadget gets used every single day! Why? Because I have a protein shake just about every day. They’re quick, easy, nutritious, and is the best way for me to get a lot of protein in one meal. The bullet makes it easy to prepare my shakes because I just throw everything in and let it do it’s thing for about a minute of two.
This is my go-to shake which is a chocolate almond shake.

Kitchen Gadget #4 – Slow Cooker
This gadget gets a lot of use in the winter. Slow cookers are great because you can toss the ingredients in before you go to work in the morning, and voilà, you come home to the wonderful aroma and a hot pot of chili.
My favourite winter dishes are soups and chilies. I’ve also used my slow cooker to make dishes such as cabbage rolls, curry chicken, beef stews, and even oatmeal. There’s nothing better than coming home to a bowl of hot soup or chili all ready to go.
Kitchen Gadget #5 – George Foreman Grill
This one is an oldie but a goodie. I’ve been using a Foreman Grill for at least 10 years now and it never disappoints. I use it to grill chicken breasts, hamburgers, steak, shrimp, and flat breads. I also love how easy clean up is. After years of use, the food never sticks to the surface like a regular pot.
It always feels good to see all of the fat dripping in the tray, and the best part is that your meals are ready in half the time.
This is one of my simple lunch dishes. It’s a chicken breast grilled on the Foreman Grill with spinach, avocado, and cucumber.
So there you have it, my top 5 kitchen gadgets. What’s your favourite kitchen gadget, and what’s your favourite dish that you like to prepare in it? Do you know others that I have not mentioned here? I would love to hear your ideas!
