If you’ve ever tried to lose weight, you know that many of the frustrations arise not because we don’t know what to do, but because we do know what to do — yet we fail to do it.
This can make the process of weight release more frustrating than it needs to be, because our common sense can’t comprehend why we continue to make poor choices.
Spending time in your bible creates an intimate time of communication with God. God himself invites us to request what we need and then trust Him to meet our needs.
The more we reach out to God by reading His word, the more we experience His transforming peace. Through prayer and declaring his Holy word, we war against our strongholds, we replace our fear with faith and we receive his peace when nothing around us is peaceful. Through the bible, God’s power gets downloaded into us.
In moments of trial and temptations, use the word of God to help you — this is our weapon to help us in times of trouble. Hold His Word in your heart to help you avoid sinning (Psalm 119:11).
To prevent you from being tempted:
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deut. 31:8
“Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” Psalm 141:3
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
“Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things.” Psalm 103:5
When you are tempted:
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.” (James 1:2)
“Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Rom. 8:28)
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Phil 4:13)
If you have fallen:
“For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.” (Proverbs 24:16)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
The next time you are tempted, be prepared with the word of God. It is our weapon in the battle for our health and our lives.
